This is a Drednaught (D) size 6 string with a 25.4" (-254) scale, which was built for my friend and sister in Christ, Lisa Weyerhaeuser, a gifted singer and songwriter. The body is a very uniquely figured and colored Oregon Myrtle, which the sawyer named Blue Myrtle. Here's Sara Judy's (Northwest Timber) description of this wood:
Pond Dried Blue Myrtlewood
Once in a while we come across something as beautiful and unique as Pond Dried Blue Myrtlewood. Its blue/green hue is due to the fact that this musical grade curly log was submerged in quick sand, in the middle of the Oregon sand dunes, until it was dry. Finding another log, of this grade, in the same situation would be next to impossible.
The enhanced depth (-ED) body brings greater volume and dynamic range, even with a light playing touch. Custom artwork inlays on the peghead and at the 12th fret, hemispherical fret ends and Curly Koa wood binding are some of the optional features this instrument displays. It is also outfitted with the Gotoh 510 18:1 tuners and a K&K Pure Western Mini pickup.
